SUMMARY:Stepping Stones Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:At SCS each year\, we celebrate the completion of the elementary grades with a “Stepping Stones Ceremony.” For new families\, the Stepping Stones Ceremony is a tradition where the teacher speaks about the class and the students\, then each student receives a stone with their grade to signify completing the year. It is a wonderful closure and the stones become keepsakes that they collect every year. \nOur Stepping Stones Ceremony\, which includes the kindergarten graduation and 5th grade promotion\, will take place on the last day of school and families are invited to attend. Students should arrive at school at the normal time (8:00 am)\, with morning car line running as usual and remain with their class until their ceremony. Students may wear uniform or nicer on this day. Once the whole class has received their stones\, they will exit as a group into the school gym where you can meet up with them and take pictures. If you are picking up your child at this time\, please check out with their teacher. \nSee the schedule below for each grades ceremony: \n\n8:30-8:45 – First Grade\n8:45-9:00 – Second Grade\n9:00-9:15 – Third Grade\n9:15-9:30 – Fourth Grade\n9:30-9:45 – Transition to Kindergarten Graduation\n9:45-10:15 – Kindergarten Graduation\n10:15-10:30 – Transition to Fifth Grade Promotion\n10:30-11:00 – Fifth Grade Promotion\n11:00-11:30 – Wrap Up and Dismissal\n\nParents may either pick up their student directly following their Stepping Stones Ceremony or pick up through afternoon car line. If picking up after the ceremony\, please check out your student with their teacher in the gym. If picking up through car line\, note that car line will begin at 11:15 and will run as normal.

SUMMARY:Halloween Costumes at School
DESCRIPTION:Students may choose to wear regular uniform school clothes\, fall colors or simple Halloween costumes on Monday\, October 31st. \nIn addition to individual classroom guidelines\, please follow the guidelines below to minimize disruption and maximize the fun: \n\nTeachers/Staff cannot be responsible for putting on\, taking off\, or managing costumes. One suggestion is to have your child wear part of their costume to school. Phone calls home for forgotten costume items will not be allowed.\nCostumes should be appropriate for all regular school activities like quiet work times\, recess\, and P.E. Please be aware of the activities your child will be doing\, and know that their costume may come back soiled/damaged. Tennis shoes are required for P.E. Consider sending your student with back up clothing in the event their costume fails.\nMinimal make-up is allowed\, but students are not to bring any makeup items to school for application. No full face makeup or colored hair spray\, as it will often come off on clothing\, costumes\, school supplies\, food\, and school furniture. If the makeup is creating a problem\, your child may be asked to wash it off.\nCostumes should not include accessories such as guns\, knives\, swords\, pitchforks or any other items that make them scary\, gory\, or violent. No costume masks (other than required face masks). Please pay careful attention to the appropriateness of the costume for the school environment.\n\nThe guidelines mentioned above may seem overly restrictive\, but they are designed to protect the safety of your children while assuring the opportunity for fun in the school setting. We want the children to have a great time AND have a productive day at school. Thanks so much for your assistance! \nIf you have any questions about classroom events\, please contact your students’ teacher.
