In addition to individual classroom guidelines\, please follow the guidelines  below to minimize disruption and maximize the fun: \n\nTeachers/Staff cannot be responsible for putting on\, taking off\, or managing costumes. One suggestion is to have your child wear part of their costume to school. Phone calls home for forgotten costume items will not be allowed.\nCostumes should be appropriate for all regular school activities like quiet work times\, recess\, and P.E. Please be aware of the activities your child will be doing\, and know that their costume may come back soiled/damaged. Tennis shoes are required for P.E. Consider sending your student with back up clothing in the event their costume fails.\nMinimal make-up is allowed\, but students are not to bring any makeup items to school for application. No full face makeup or colored hair spray\, as it will often come off on clothing\, costumes\, school supplies\, food\, and school furniture. If the makeup is creating a problem\, your child may be asked to wash it off.\nCostumes should not include accessories such as guns\, knives\, swords\, pitchforks or any other items that make them scary\, gory\, or violent. No costume masks. Please pay careful attention to the appropriateness of the costume for the school environment.\n\nThe guidelines mentioned above may seem overly restrictive\, but they are designed to protect the safety of your children while assuring the opportunity for fun in the school setting. DESCRIPTION:The first day for Kindergarten and 6th grade is on Tuesday\, September 3rd. This day will be a half day\, with drop off beginning at 7:40 am and pick up beginning at 11:30 am. On this day\, kinder and 6th grade students will be able to get comfortable in their classrooms\, meet their teachers\, learn about car line and get familiar with the campus before all students start the next day. Students will not have lunch on this day but should bring a snack\, and uniform dress should be worn. \nMorning Drop Off\nOn the kindergartener’s first day\, kindergarten families should park on campus (parking will be available in the lower parking lot & overflow parking is available in the upper recess parking lot). Please arrive outside of the school office between 7:40 and 8:00 am to escort your student inside the building. \nOn 6th grade’s first day\, 6th grade families should drop off following normal car line procedures between 7:40 and 8:00 am. \nAfternoon Pick Up\nParents should plan on picking up their student through normal afternoon car line\, beginning at 11:30 am on September 3rd.

SUMMARY:Stepping Stones Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Each year at SCS we celebrate the completion of the elementary grades with a “Stepping Stones Ceremony.” The Stepping Stones Ceremony is a tradition where the teacher speaks about the class and the students. Students are given a stone memento with their grade to signify completing the year followed by a symbolic advancement to the next grade. It is a wonderful closure and the stones become keepsakes that they collect every year. \nAll families are encouraged to attend the Stepping Stones Ceremony for their student’s grade. Students should arrive at school in uniform or nicer clothing at normal time (7:40-7:55 am)\, with morning car line drop off as usual. Students will remain with their class until their ceremony. Parents should arrive a few minutes before their student’s grade is scheduled to begin. Once the whole class has advanced to the next grade level\, families will be directed into the school gym where they should check out their student with the designated staff member. After your student has been checked out\, there will be a brief opportunity to take pictures before officially starting summer. If you are unable to attend the Stepping Stones event and will not be picking up your student directly after the ceremony\, please note that there will be NO dismissal through car line on this day. Parents must park and check into the office to pick up student beginning at 11:30 and no later than noon. See the schedule below: \n\n8:20 – Doors open for Kindergarten Graduation seating\n8:30-9:00 – Kindergarten Graduation\n9:00-9:15 – Transition to Stepping Stones Ceremonies\n9:15-9:35 – First Grade\n9:40-10:00 – Second Grade\n10:05-10:25 – Third Grade\n10:30-10:50 – Fourth Grade\n10:50-11:00 – Transition to Fifth Grade Promotion\n11:00-11:30 – Fifth Grade Promotion\n11:30-12:00 – Wrap Up and Dismissal\n\n

DESCRIPTION:We invite all 8th grade families to join us for the promotion of Sherwood Charter School’s 8th grade students! \nWednesday\, June 5th\, 2024\n5:30 pm to 6:30\nSherwood Charter School Auditorium \nA promotion reception will be hosted by the PAC & 7th grade families immediately following the ceremony in the gym. \n*If your student is participating in the ceremony\, please have them dress in uniform or nicer and arrive to Mrs. Iliscupidez’s classroom no later than 5:15 pm. They will be walking over to the auditorium as a class for the ceremony.
