SUMMARY:First Day of School – Kinder and 6th Grade Only (Half Day)
DESCRIPTION:The first day for Kindergarten and 6th grade is on Tuesday\, September 3rd. This day will be a half day\, with drop off beginning at 7:40 am and pick up beginning at 11:30 am. On this day\, kinder and 6th grade students will be able to get comfortable in their classrooms\, meet their teachers\, learn about car line and get familiar with the campus before all students start the next day. Students will not have lunch on this day but should bring a snack\, and uniform dress should be worn. \nMorning Drop Off\nOn the kindergartener’s first day\, kindergarten families should park on campus (parking will be available in the lower parking lot & overflow parking is available in the upper recess parking lot). Please arrive outside of the school office between 7:40 and 8:00 am to escort your student inside the building. \nOn 6th grade’s first day\, 6th grade families should drop off following normal car line procedures between 7:40 and 8:00 am. \nAfternoon Pick Up\nParents should plan on picking up their student through normal afternoon car line\, beginning at 11:30 am on September 3rd.

Families will have a chance to rotate through all Middle School presentations listed below beginning at 5:15 pm. \n5:15 – 6:15 pm Middle School Presentations:\nMr. Winningham: Math\, Grading & Synergy; Ms. Knee: Art\, Electives & HEART Skills\nMrs. Ilis: Humanities\, Planners & Conferences; Mr. Lamb: PE\, Uniforms & Schedules\nMrs. Barchers: Science\, Communication & Student Accountability; Mrs. DuPriest: Band\, Houses & Field Trips \nPrincipal\, School Board\, PAC Presentation at Auditorium\n6:30-6:55 pm\nAll parents/guardians are invited to the Auditorium for a whole school presentation from Ms. Raboli\, the SCS Board and the Parent Advisory Committee. \nElementary\nElementary classes will hold two sessions for those with multiple students in your student’s classroom. SUMMARY:Free Dress Day
DESCRIPTION:Free dress days are the last Thursday of each month for all students. Common-sense guidelines apply such as no torn-out jeans\, no clothes with inappropriate graphic or logos\, or anything that promotes violence\, drugs\, alcohol\, tobacco\, sex\, racism or gang affiliation\, no costume items\, etc. Prohibited articles of clothing include but are not limited to: \n\nPajamas\, yoga pants\, sweatpants\, and joggers (except on “Pajama Day”)\nTrench coats or capes\nTank tops and spaghetti or thin strap tops\nBare midriff\, or see-through clothing\nForm-fitting pants cannot be worn alone and must follow uniform guidelines as described in section 1(b)(iii) of the uniform policy at all times.\n\nIt is imperative that student attire does not contribute to a hostile or intimidating atmosphere for any student\, and that dress code enforcement does not reinforce or increase marginalization or oppression of any group based on race\, sex\, gender\, identity\, religion\, ethnicity\, or cultural observance. Any such clothing items are not allowed\, and students inappropriately dressed on free dress day will be asked to change. Parents will be contacted and asked to bring a change of clothes. \nIf in doubt as to whether an item is appropriate\, send back-up clothing in the event your child is asked to change. Younger students are also encouraged to bring a change of clothes in their backpacks in case of accidents.
