SUMMARY:Middle School Winter Dance
DESCRIPTION:The SCS Student Council invites all SCS middle school students to a “Helping Hollywood” Winter Dance on Thursday\, January 23rd from 6:00-7:30 pm in the school gym. \nStudents can look forward to a glamorous evening with Hollywood-themed decorations\, a faux red carpet\, dancing\, and delicious food. The school will provide pizza\, while snacks\, drinks\, and sweets will be generously supplied by the PAC and parent volunteers. Additionally\, the student council will be hosting a fundraiser\, and students are encouraged to bring optional cash donations. All funds raised will be donated to the American Red Cross efforts in LA and the surrounding areas. \nThe dress code for the evening will be free-dress or nicer (please reference the policy on the website). \nDrop-off will follow the same procedures as the morning car line\, while pick-up will commence at 7:25 PM and continue through 7:35 PM. Cars will line up similarly to the morning carline routine and students will be released through the auditorium doors. \nSee the email from Ms. Ilise for information!

SUMMARY:Free Dress Day
DESCRIPTION:Free dress days are the last Thursday of each month for all students. Common-sense guidelines apply such as no torn-out jeans\, no clothes with inappropriate graphic or logos\, or anything that promotes violence\, drugs\, alcohol\, tobacco\, sex\, racism or gang affiliation\, no costume items\, etc. Prohibited articles of clothing include but are not limited to: \n\nPajamas\, yoga pants\, sweatpants\, and joggers (except on “Pajama Day”)\nTrench coats or capes\nTank tops and spaghetti or thin strap tops\nBare midriff\, or see-through clothing\nForm-fitting pants cannot be worn alone and must follow uniform guidelines as described in section 1(b)(iii) of the uniform policy at all times.\n\nIt is imperative that student attire does not contribute to a hostile or intimidating atmosphere for any student\, and that dress code enforcement does not reinforce or increase marginalization or oppression of any group based on race\, sex\, gender\, identity\, religion\, ethnicity\, or cultural observance. Any such clothing items are not allowed\, and students inappropriately dressed on free dress day will be asked to change. Parents will be contacted and asked to bring a change of clothes. \nIf in doubt as to whether an item is appropriate\, send back-up clothing in the event your child is asked to change. Younger students are also encouraged to bring a change of clothes in their backpacks in case of accidents.
