In light of the Black Lives Matter movement, the ongoing protests across the nation and world, and the honoring of Juneteenth by many businesses and communities, it is important for the SCS Board to express support for the school’s efforts to promote inclusive practices and culturally responsive curriculum. The Sherwood School District released an extensive statement and SCS fully agrees with and supports every aspect of it. It can be found here.
The HEART skills that are the foundation of SCS teach us to be inclusive and empathetic, but they also challenge us to continually look at ourselves for areas where we can improve. The SCS Board is committed to engaging in active antiracism and welcomes all suggestions and criticisms that may help us become a better school community and family.
In solidarity,
