Earlier today, Governor Kate Brown announced updated metrics for K-12 schools in Oregon. The update includes setting metric requirements at a county level vs. state which allows schools to return to in-person learning with a greater allowance of COVID cases by county. You can find the full update of the guidance from the Oregon Department of Education below:

What does this mean for Sherwood Charter School?
SCS still needs to qualify for 2 counties, Washington and Yamhill, before transitioning to a hybrid model.
Per the updated metrics, SCS must meet the following county criteria over a period of 14 days:
- Have <100 county case rate per 100,000 people
- County test rate positivity must be <8%
Currently, based on the one-time snapshot provided by ODE, we do not meet the required metrics for returning to in-person instruction for our counties.
We will continue to review these updates as well as monitor the case rates for counties represented by our school families and staff and will keep families informed as we know more.
