About SCS

Sherwood Charter School is a school of choice serving students in grades K-8. We are a small, close-knit school, where we get to know one another and celebrate each other’s successes. We believe in cultivating students’ hearts as well as their minds to foster high academic achievement and a positive school climate.

Known for excellence and innovation, Sherwood Charter School has deployed technology throughout all grade levels to supplement learning and research. Our character development program H.E.A.R.T. (honor, empathy, accountability, respect and teamwork) is woven into everything we do, and in all grades our academic programs cultivate a strong love of learning.

Our History

Born from a desire to provide a different approach to a quality education, Sherwood Charter School opened its doors to 32 students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade in September 2005. Originally an offshoot from MITCH Charter School in Tigard, Sherwood Charter School became an entirely separate entity in June 2009, governed by its own Board of Directors.

Through the dedication of this board, the talented faculty and staff, and the loving efforts and support of students’ parents, that commitment to academic excellence continues today. Now in over fourteen years of operation, SCS has grown to serve students in Kindergarten through 8th grade and has consistently earned the ranking of “Outstanding” by the Oregon Department of Education.

Our Mission and Vision

Sherwood Charter School is a K-8 school of choice, providing a rigorous academic experience through integrated curriculum and instruction. SCS maintains a nurturing environment with small class sizes and an emphasis on practical applications of what is learned.

Our vision is to forge highly competent, principled leaders who are life-long learners, empowered to live up to their potential and make a positive impact on their community and the world. SCS practices a rigorous, integrated curriculum that focuses on hands-on experiences.
